Nayland College is national recognised for our care of International Students and we pride ourselves on the support that we provide students, both at school and in the homestay environment.
A full-time International Director overseas the programme. Pastoral care is provided by and International Adviser. She is available to answer any questions and to help support students integrate into school and community life.
All homestay placements are done by our fulltime homestay co-ordinator. She monitors student placements to ensure the best possible match is maintained. She will meet all students at Nelson airport with your host family and this will incur no extra cost. All of our homestay families live within walking distance to the school and bikes can be provided to students, if they wish.
Nayland College provides 5 separate English classes for its international students to ensure that the level of English a student arrives with is supported. This includes a specialised University Entrance English class that operates will very small numbers and individualised attention. Mainstream English options are also offered to students who wish to extend themselves. Nayland College also offers Cambridge English and IELTS preparation courses. These classes run after school and are at no extra cost. If students wish to sit the examination this can be arranged at the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology and a cost does apply for these examinations.
