West Coast

This region is a long, narrow stretch of flat land, with the foothills of the Southern Alps to the east. It has forests, rivers, glaciers and coal mines. The West Coast is New Zealand’s only source of greenstone jade.

Attracting tourists to its rugged beauty, the West Coast offers jobs in tourism and hospitality as well as forestry and mining.
