WHY NZ

Bay of Plenty

The English explorer Captain Cook was impressed by the abundance of fruit and crops grown by local Maori, and gave this region its name. The Bay of Plenty still produces large amounts of vegetables, citrus fruit, and most famously, Kiwifruit.

The region is sheltered by mountains to the west, creating a warm and sunny climate that attracts retirees. East coast beaches are very popular in summer and Tauranga is the bustling main centre.

There are many opportunities for employment in hospitality, tourism, fruit picking, and general orchard work in the Bay of Plenty.
